Bill Jarvis from Hospital Radio to Internet Radio
Bill’s journey in radio commenced in hospital radio, where he immersed himself for many years before taking the reins as station manager for Radio Heartbeat. Covering Southport, Ormskirk, St Helens, and Whiston, Radio Heartbeat has flourished under his guidance, serving as a vibrant platform for the community. Notably, the station acted as a launchpad for Jon Culshaw, a former pupil of the school where Bill taught.
With a tenure that spans from the analog era to the digital age, Bill’s experience as both station manager and presenter reflects his dedication to the craft. He witnessed the transition from analog to internet radio when it was still a distant dream, showcasing his adaptability and foresight.
Beyond his involvement in traditional radio, Bill played a pivotal role in managing Maghull Radio, a local community internet station, until its closure. His professional journey has been diverse, starting as a civil engineer in the water supply industry before transitioning into a technology and IT educator.
Bill currently jumps in to help us on Travel.Radio when our Presenters are on leave.
